Small Particle Model of Matter - ASSET

Type of Resource

This resource is for teachers who want to help their students learn about the small particle model of matter—that is, the idea that (1) all matter is made of particles that are too small to see, even with a microscope; (2) there is empty space between those particles; and (3) the particles are in constant random motion. This content aligns with disciplinary core idea PS1.A (Structure and Properties of Matter) at the 5th grade in the NGSS. The resource is organized into Driving Question Pathway

Performance Expectations

5-PS1-1   Develop a model to describe that matter is made of particles too small to be seen.
